Install Show Secretary on a Vista computer using your original XP CD

This procedure can be used to install Show Secretary on a Vista computer using a CD that was designed for XP computers.  You can also order a replacement CD by pressing the Purchase button.  The CD you receive is designed for installation on Vista computers and contains the current version of Show Secretary.

Note:  If you received your CD after 7/1/2007 you do not need to use this procedure because it will be Vista compatible. Using these CD's you simply insert the CD and follow the  normal installation procedure by installing both Show Secretary and Access 2002 Runtime.

(1)       Insert the CD and use Windows Explore to navigate to the files on the cd

(2)       Locate and run the following files from the CD

A.      Setup.exe

B.      InstallRuntime.bat 

(3)       From the Vista, Accessories menu use the “Run” Selection to register a dll using the following command:  regsvr32 mftp32.ocx

(4)    Using Windows Explore, navigate to C:\Program Files\Show Secretary and create a shortcut to the file xpShowSectary5.mde.  Copy this shortcut to your desktop.  

(5)       Start Show Secretary which will allow it to copy the original databases and registration to your hard drive.

(6)       Now exit Show Secretary - Do not login or try to select a database 

(7)       Download and install (unzip) the current registration http://www.showsec.com/dbRegistration.exe

(8)       Download and install (Unzip) the current version  of the software using the procedure found here "Install Show Secretary Update on Vista Computer"

(9)       Finally, copy your current Show Secretary database from your XP computer that contains your show and horse information to C:\Database\ShowSecXP  on your Vista computer
