What's Changed?

This page displays an up-to-date listing of changes being made to Show
Secretary or PointKeeper.
Tuesday, June 8 ,2010
 | 1. Show Secretary 7 - |
1.
Windows 7 and Vista users may experience the error "Path not found" when
attempting to prepare show results for transmission to the breed association.
This error occurs because the results are trying to be created in the root
folder of the C drive and with UAC turned on is not allowed. This update
corrects the problem by placing the results in the user's MY Documents folder
instead of the root folder.
2. Added a "Remote Support" feature to Show Secretary. Some of you may
have used a product called Crossloop with me where I've been able to connect to
your machine and provide support. I have added a similar feature to Show
Secretary to provide the same functionality. Where Crossloop charges for their
product this feature is now part of Show Secretary. To install you will need to
install this version (7.07) and in addition you will need to install the add-on
module for support by clicking
here.
3. Fixed the problem when using the Calendar Option you would always have to
re-select your show from the calendar (even though it may have been already
selected). This version works correctly so the last show you were using
from the calendar will be re-selected when starting the program.
4. The "Use Selection" on the Data Selection screen has been changed to
the more industry standard "Open". Also some users were reporting this would not
work and were having to double click the database they wanted to use. This
should be working correctly now.

1.
When using the Calendar Schedule, it was necessary to always re-select your show
from the calendar when starting Show Secretary. With this version it will not be
necessary as it will select the correct show which is shown on the Data
Selection menu screen. Of course if you want to work with a different show
you would still have to use the calendar to selct the show you're wanting to
work with.
2. Modified the printing code for printing class sheets to resolve print
problems with a brother problem.
3. Resolved a problem where new line items could not be entered on the Fees
Setup screen.

When
using the Calendar in Show Secretary7, the "Show All Horses" on the Entries Form
doesn't work, the only horses that will show are horses with back numbers
assigned. You can press the orange button "Filtered"
showing below the owner information and it will show you all horses in your
database.
This
version corrects this problem so that the "Show All Horses" now works correctly.
You can press the link below to install this version. Remember, you will
need to do the "Add Database" after you install this update.

code there as well.
Version 6.93
Date Modified: 7/9/2009
Monday, June 29 ,2009
 | 1. Show Secretary XP: - |
1. Allows
AQHA Introductory Shows to be setup as open shows, eliminating the requirement
that you have a Breed=Quarterhorse show created for reporting show results.
Version 6.92
Wednesday, June 17 ,2009
 | 1. Show Secretary XP: - |
1. The
button "Change Multiple Classes" on the class master setup is used to change a
certain field such as class date for all classes for a particular show.
This saves time so you don't have to edit the date (or certain other fields)
individually by class number. However, when used and the judge numbers were not
being changed the program would clear all of the judge numbers for the show
which was a bad thing!
This version corrects
that problem and will leave them alone unless you want to change them.
Version 6.91
Monday, June 8 ,2009
 | 1. Show Secretary XP: - |
1. Show
Secretary now supports AQHA (and other breeds) Introductory Shows. With this
new enhancement your introductory AQHA classes can be included in your all-breed
show and then have Show Secretary do the work of pulling out the AQHA horses
while retaining the placings. Show Secretary can now produce a class sheet and
only select a certain breed which can be provided for your AQHA judge to assist
him in preparing his AQHA judge’s card.
You only have to
setup the AQHA class along with the all-breed class. You enter the entries in
the all-breed class and Show Secretary does the rest. Your show high point is
not affected because you use the All-Breed classes for the qualifying classes so
points are correctly calculated for the actual number of in the class.
Version 6.90

looks here to get the FROM address.

1.
Electronic results being sent to APHA, ApHC, AQHA, USEF and AHA will fail when
prepared and sent to the organization. This is because the web site for
www.showsec.com is now being hosted by a
different provider. This change corrects this problem.
In addition any emails being sent either using EZ Mail Support or the email
facility provided on the Miscellaneous screen would fail. These are also fixed
in this version.

www.showmyhorse.com can now optionally be converted to UPPER CASE when it
is imported into the Show Secretary database.
Version 6.64
Beta Status Removed on production version
Beta Version 6.59 has now been moved to the Standard version of Show
Secretary XP as version 6.60. A
number of shows were done successfully using this version so it is now the
standard download. You can go here:
http://www.showsec.com/Support/Show%20SecretaryXP%20Upgrade.htm to download
this version. IN addition a number of shows have been posted on
www.showmyhorse.com and feedback from
exhibitors has been extremely positive.
Beta Version - Can be downloaded from the Support Page
- The calendar/scheduling option in Show Secretary now provides the ability
to not only setup all of your shows in advance but now you can also accept
entries for any show on your calendar/schedule. This change was provided so
that you can setup all of your shows at the beginning of the year and place
them on www.showmyhorse.com which
will give you a lot more advertising and exposure and hopefully equates to
more entries for your show.
- Email option is now available so you can easily send announcements to your
owners, exhibitors or both. Hint" Use this to setup your show on
ShowMyHorse.com and let your owners, trainers and exhibitors know thy now have
the ability to enter your show online.
- The requirement to authorize your IP Address to use
www.showmyhorse.com has been elimited.
This restriction created a hardship on many users who were not unable to get
fixed IP addresses which ment they were unable to use the online entry feature
of Show Secretary. It is very easy to post your shows online by simply filling
out 3 screens in the Internet Setup section of Show Secretary. However, before
you can post your show you will need to goto
www.showmyhorse.com and create
yourself a login which is necessary in the Show Secretary internet setup.
Note: Make a backup copy of your database if for any reason you need to
revert to your current version of the program.
Beta Version - Can be downloaded from the Support Page
- Show Secretary now supports up to 16 judges for each breed.
- If a class entry is deleted for an entry that was already placed in the
class, the entire class would have to be replaced. This update corrects
the problem.
- The "GetMap" button on the internet facilities tab now works.
- When using the "Show Selection" dropdown menu in the class master setup,
the "Allowed Breeds" was being setup without the apostrophe marks surrounding
the breed code. This caused the error message "Restricted Class - breed not
allowed" when trying to enter an exhibitor into the class. To correct this it
was necessary to reselect the breed code using the "Breeds Allowed"
button. This update corrects the problem so the "Breeds Allowed" field
is correctly inserted when the Show Selection drop-down is used.
- When creating a new entry you can enter the owner in the owner dropdown
list. The program will now parse the first & last names automatically and
place in their respective fields.
- In the Class Master screen, the program will now tab to the division field
from the Active/Not Used field. This is nice for those fast data entry users.
- Entries that were scratched/Billed were incorrectly showing on the class
sheets. This is now corrected in this version.
- The description for any miscellaneous fee or payment added to an entry's
bill may now be edited
- An alternate class master update screen has been included which contains
only the minimum information required to setup a class. A toggle is provided
to switch to the full class master screen if you need to include class
information or rules not provided on the minimum info only screen.
- When using the Scroll List to update the class master, the program will
now maintain synchronization between the class master screen and the Scroll
List. So when you close the Scroll List the class master screen will be
positioned on the same record that was being worked on in the Scroll List.
- On the Billing Screen buttons are now provided for printing Billing
Statements for the owner or trainer. When used the program will automatically
locate the owner of the current entry displayed.
- The program will now insure that the required fields on the Class Master
screen are completed. If any of these fields are left blank you will not be
able to exit or move to another class record until you complete the
information. Note: to avoid problems with blank prices on the class
master records please insure that all of your items in the Fee Schedule do not
have blanks in either of the amount columns.
- Items on the Fee Schedule that were deleted and had been assigned to a
Class Master record caused the class master record display to be suppressed.
These classes will now be displayed showing the original code assigned in the
Fee Schedule with a blank amount field. To correct this you will need to
either re-add the item to the Fee Schedule or change the Price code to one
that is already setup on the Fee Schedule.
- Many of you have experienced problems emailing results to the association
or using EZ Mail Support option to send me your database. The problem
occurs because of an external module of Show Secretary was not correctly
registered on your computer. I have added a "Repair" button to these screens
which will correct the problem if encountered.
- Automatically sets up your Grand & Reserve class entries (with placing)
using
the G&R Selection form. This process occurs after you identify the G&R for
each judge and you press the Close Form button on the Gender Selection screen.
You will also need to setup the class codes used by the breed association.
This can be done on the Setup/Other/Breeds screen.
-
You now have the capability to mass
change the class master. On the class master you'll find a new button titled
"Make Multiple Changes" where you can set the class date, judges, "Breeds
Allowed" or # entries to place for a given show number. Now you don't have to
go through each class record and set these when setting up a new show which
will save some time.
-
Changed the Backup system so that it
no longer appends the date of backup to the name of the file. The file name
that will be used for the backup will be the show name that you assign when
setting up the show. Be sure that you have a unique show name for each show so
that you can retain a backup of each show. It's a good idea to invest in a
thumb drive and keep your backups on this device in case of a hard drive
failure. Also, please remember to use the "Add Backups" button on the Add
Database screen to setup any backups on the Backup Selection Menu anytime you
install a new version of Show Secretary.
-
When a Backup file is removed from
the Backups Menu, the database will now be removed from your hard drive.
Previously, you would have had to use Microsoft's Explore program to delete
these unwanted backups from your computer and failure to do so would cause
them to re-appear when you installed a new version of Show Secretary and used
the "Add Backups" button.
Version 6.58
Monday, May 22, 2006
- Corrects a problem when setting up a combination breed show i.e. ApHC &
APHA resolving the problem of the "Restricted Class" error message when trying
to enter an exhibitor into a breed class.
Version 6.56
Sunday, May 21, 2006
- Corrects a problem with the new "Multiple Judge" placing screen
where the correct columns for the judge(s) placing the class are opened for
entry.
- When printing class sheets for a range of classes, it will now print a
page for those classes which have no entries in the class indicating 0
entries.
Version 6.56
Wednesday, May 10, 2006
- The USEF id for individuals and Owners now allows alpha characters to be
entered.
- You can now create new entries for your show by selecting an owner from
those stored in your database. Show Secretary will then display all of the
horses belonging to the owner and you simply select the horse from the list to
begin the entry process. This is great for open shows where the horses do not
have a registration number. To use this option press the "New Entry" button on
the horse information screen and then select the owner option.
- The option for selecting either all horses in the database or only horses
with a back number now works correctly. This option is on the entries screen.
Version 6.55
Monday, March 28, 2006
- A new option has been added to Show Secretary for placing all judges on a
single screen and using the back number like the single judge format. This
placing format allows you to place results much more quickly in the fast paced
horse show environment.
Also, like the single judge format you can add entries on the fly for those
entries added at the gate. Version 6.53
Version 6.54
Monday, March 28, 2006
- Added a button to the Internet Setup screen which will obtain the IP
address for the computer you are using for Show Secretary. This number
(IP Address) needs to be sent to
support@showsec.com so that your computer can be authorized for connecting
to the showmyhorse database using Show Secretary to upload your shows to the
web site.
Version 6.53
Monday, March 27, 2006
- Corrects a problem of being unable to remove shows from the Calendar
Schedule. Also, added the ability to completely remove all shows from
the calendar schedule and deactivate the schedule.
- Updated the Help File
Version 6.52
Wednesday, March 15, 2006
- Corrects a problem of keeping multiple shows in a show series. When the
"Clear Show" is run to setup for the next show, Show Secretary will now clear
the showmyhorse show id so that a new show id will be assigned. This corrects
the problem where the prior show was overwritten with the new show.
Version 6.51
Tuesday, March 14, 2006
- www.ShowMyHorse.com was moved to
a new hosting company. This version supports the new location.
Version 6.50

show entries received on the showmyhorse.com web site directly into your Show
Secretary database. Once you have received the entries you confirm the
entry has arrived at your show by assigning the back number. Press the
"Request Entries" button to initiate the download of the show entries after
you have connected to the internet.

you have completed these three screens.
www.showmyhorse.com also has provisions to display show results from your
completed show. Just press the "Post Show Results" button on your completed
show and the results will be loaded to the ShowMyHorse database.
Note: There is an additional module that you will need to
download and install. You will find this module as step#5 on the Upgrade
Show SecretaryXP Page.
This process is in development mode at this time.
However, I welcome you to experiment with it. You can load your shows and then
create some entries into your show. Currently you will only receive emails with
the entry information.
2. Some of you have seen error messages when adding second + riders to
exhibitor information. If the relationship is not entered prior to enter the
rider name, it will produce an error. This is resolved in this version.

- If a class is edited on the rider/classes screen i.e. change 60b to 60B
and additional class fees are in effect, the program would create a duplicate
additional fee for the class as assigned under "Other Fees" for the class.
- When the Scratch Remove Billing option is used and additional class fees
are in effect, these additional fees were not automatically deleted. This
update now deletes these fees automatically.
- When creating the Pointkeeper files it would transfer all owners in the
Show Secretary database to the Pointkeeper database. This update will now only
transfer owner records that were showing in the show to be processed.

and install the new Show Secretary Help file and you will find the procedures
in the topic "How Do I". Click Here
to download the Help File. If you're doing Appaloosa shows, this version
(5.26) is mandatory for reporting electronic show results to ApHC.
- When printing the billing statements, it would print 2 copies of each
bill. It will now print only a single copy of the bill.
- A new report is now available for All-Around reporting. When you
select "Eligibility Report" you are now presented with a choice of either by
Horse or by Exhibitor.
- Fixed the overall total of entries in the "Class Totals" report is the
#entries for the show.
- When entering entries into a show it has been necessary to use the mouse
to click out of the back number field after assigning the back number. You can
now press either the TAB key or the enter key and it will move to the horse's
name field.
- When setting up a new rider who is also the owner of the horse, selecting
Self as the relationship copies the owner information to the rider
information. The fields Assoc #, USEF # and social security number will now
also be copied to the rider scan so that you do not have to re-key these
fields.
- In the Class Placing when you have set the #entries judge will place in
the class master to something other then 7, it will revert back to a 7 on the
class placing screen after you've placed the screen. Advancing to the
next screen will reset it to your specification but it has been confusing so
it will now retain your setting in the class master after each class is
placed.

1. Corrected a problem when points are
being entered via the manual process, the judge's name on the 2nd judge
points would be the first judge's name for the first class of a show's
results.
2. Revised the "Delete All Show Data"
routine providing more control over what data is deleted. Now, for the end
of year process you can retain the horse, owners and riders which is most
beneficial for users doing manual process and not using the Show Secretary
program for enter results.
You will now be asked to run the
eligibility process after the limiting judges is run when running the
"Rebuild Report File". The Eligibility Routine has been removed from the
Miscellaneous Menu.

 | 1. Show Secretary XP: Added the ability to email show
results and/or the Show Roster to the associations. For Appaloosa results you
will find an email button on the Appaloosa Results screen. For all other
breeds use the Email option found on the Breed Reporting Menu.
Using the email option will automatically create the results diskette file and
a Show Roster when the “Prepare” button is pressed. These files will be
created on the C:\ drive. Email addressing for the association can be setup by
going to Setup and selecting the “Other” tab. From here Select “Breeds”,
select the appropriate breed and press the “Address Info”. The association
email address should be entered on this screen. |
 | 2. Show Secretary XP: Using the EZ Mail Support option
to request support required the user to configure the email with their email
information from their internet provider. Since a number of users were
experiencing difficulties configuring the email requirements this update will

configure the email option. |

results as it will now be done automatically when used. In addition the email
contains contact information extracted from your setup and included in the
email to assist the association in processing your results. APHA shows
will also attach a Show Roster to the email. |
Note: Currently APHA is having a problem in their email system and the
results sent using this method are being deleted.
So do not send APHA results with this method until this note has been removed
indicating they have resolved the problem. They indicated to me they could not
work on this problem until after the World Show.

The following
fixes/enhancements
have been implemented in this version:
 | 1. Show Secretary XP: Modified the calendar format to allow
moving the entry database. This resolves the problem which would break the
calendar if the entry database was moved to a different folder which resulted
in the shows that were part of the database only appearing when the "All
Databases" option was selected. |
 | 2. Show Secretary XP: Added integrated zip support into the EZ-Mail
Support feature of Show Secretary. Now a zip file is constructed which
contains the show schedule databases along with your entry database when
requesting support. This feature reduces the transmission time by as much as
85% to transmit your database requesting support. A graphical progress meter
was also added giving you a visual look at the status of your transmission. |

 | 3. Show Secretary XP: Added a button to the Data Selection form to
allow deleting multiple unused databases from the Database Selection screen. |
Note:
When this update is downloaded you may need to download the file called

only be on Win/98 machines whereas the Win/XP machines should already have
this file installed.
